In our final post for Speech and Hearing Month, it is important to ensure that accessible communication is a human right. We continue to advocate and support our clients so that the barriers they face are addressed.

We educate clients’ families and caregivers and assess and treat communication issues to help our clients express their wants, needs, emotions, opinions, and ideas. We ensure access to timely services to lessen frustration and to endeavour to do as much as possible early on.

We address all communication issues, from articulation and/or stuttering concerns to the many subtle communication issues such as those following a concussion/brain injury. Included in therapy programs is education about a particular communication issue and specific training in supportive communication for families and caregivers. A client and family-centred approach is essential to ensuring access to adequate communication.

We at the Speech Therapy Centres of Canada believe in your voice and will always be here for you.
